This project seeks to foster a contemporary engagement between New Orleans and the Mississippi River. Functionally, it provides high land at a level above the levee wall by forming a raised bridge to connect the River and the City. Metaphorically, it harkens to the landscape of a vernacular floodplain. The arrangement of buildings on the site simulates exposed roots and the arrangement of debris in an alluvial fan.
